who IS fridaynightgirl?

::giggle:: I couldn't resist - isn't it amazing how we all, eventually, long to be recognized? So, with that in mind, I decided to step out from behind fridaynightgirl and show the "world" my face.

Ah ha - so here I am. For the past nine months, I have been quite anonymous behind the WW2 pinup, but I find that shoe just doesn't fit anymore. It's too much fun being me.

Fear not - fridaynightgirl is here to stay. I like the sound of it too much to give the identity up. The new picture is a Gordon Conway drawing called, That Red Head Gal - do you like her? I do; she's hanging up in my office.

So, today was a good day. The cover of my season catalog is almost finished and I am so excited! It is looking even better than I imagined. After it is finished, I will bring it home and post it - so you can all see it.

Last night, the girls from my bible study came over and watched Life is Beautiful. Wow. What a movie. If you haven't seen it; I hope you will. We laughed and cried.

They gave me some smell-pretty things from Bath & Body Works, some really cute stripe candles and a REALLY beautiful silver frame that is engraved with the quote,

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." - Henry David Thoreau

Who would have imagined that when I said I'd lead this bible study that I would be the one to get so much out of it??

Ok, so I have laundry to fold and totally mundane mommy-chores to do tonight, so I'll sign off for the night. Maybe I'll actually get into bed EARLY; what a concept. ::grin:: Toodles!

Out of Chaos Comes Order

Ah, the sweet joy of organizing. There is nothing quite like it in all of the earth. :)

Tonight, I bought a filing cabinet. Something in which to house my files. Nothing fancy, but oh so refreshing to get all of that JUNK out of the way and tucked very neatly into little color-coded file folders. ::giggle::

A giddy rush comes over me as I sort, glean and file. Don't ask - there are some things in this universe that aren't meant to be explained. Didn't your mother ever tell you that??

Today was a good day. The campaign brochure for my big corporate support campaign is ready and the first mailing will begin tomorrow. I am so excited! I think it will be a tremendous success; I just hope that I am as right as I think I will be. Nothing like this has ever been tried before and I think it is high time. I just can't believe I have this great job where my experience is respected enough to place that level of confidence in my abilities. ::teeter:: Don't get me wrong; I'm terribly nervous and, as is typical of my dysfunctional personality, terrified of failure. But, I really think that we have a good "product" and I have developed a good vehicle to deliver it to patrons. So, it evens out.

Ok, enough about work. I know you came to hear about a local art teacher who I enjoy looking at when he comes to the Center with his students. I would love it if he would ask me to coffee, but I am done taking the initiative with men. I've had my hand properly slapped and have been reminded that he should pursue me and NOT the other way around. So, I'll just keep about the business of making the Center lots of money and see what turns up. ::grin::

::yawn:: Well, my darling friends, you were right about me. I always write at night when I am the sleepiest. So, I'll sign off for the night. Wishing you the nicest of dreams.

night, night

Sunny Days

Today was the perfect pretty weather day. The sun was shining, the temperature was probably pretty close to 90 but it was still nice because of the low humidity and the birds were singing in the trees. The breeze blew through my wind chime and made the most relaxing sound.

So, what did I do? Got out the rake and hoe and went to town on my flowerbed! ::grin:: Together, K and I cleared away about 1/3 of the weeds, leaves and dead branches that had accumulated over the winter season.

Tonight, my shoulders are so sore! I know that tomorrow is going to be excruciating, but it will be really lovely once the bed is done. It will probably take a couple more weekends before it is all cleared away and then it will take a while to acquire all of the things I would like to put IN the bed.

It's hard to explain and I'm too tired to do an illustrated image on my Garden Design program tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

::yawn:: Goodnight, friends. Have sweet dreams. God Bless you.

That was SOME Weather

Last night I watched The Passion of the Christ. At the moment that Christ died, a real clap of thunder shook the house. It was incredible. Then, it rained the rest of the night - sheets of water, thunder and even hail.

Wow. I have resisted watching the movie again because of the intensity. I couldn't watch all of the flogging scene. It is just too gory. I will never forget those images for the rest of my life.

I didn't cry this time until Mary went to him when he fell; when she flashed back to his childhood. Oh, that just gets me every time. Needless to say that, with the very real storm going on outside - I had a good hard cry. It was just what I needed to get things back in perspective.
_____
Today, the sun is shining. I have a family reunion today. Ugh. These affairs are always uncomfortable - especially with people I have never met. This is another side of my grandfather's family. I am going because my mother asked me to. In fact, she's been asking me to go and meet these people for years and years now and I always had one reason (justified or otherwise) not to go.

I don't like family reunions. I never really have. I don't fit in with these people. They are nice enough folks but I have nothing in common with them. They enjoy things like hunting, fishing and playing dominoes. I enjoy fine art, opera, theatre and literature. They watch tv and I read books.

But this is the other side of my grandfather's family and I've never met them so I can at least meet them and try to get to know them. Here's to hopin'..

See, Sarah, I don't always write at night. ::wink:: Have a lovely day!

My Window on the World

Wow. I would like to sit at that window and drink a cup of coffee. And now, I go to sleep. (see, I told you I'd write again.) ::giggle::

Banging My Head on the Desk

You ever have one of those days when you just feel like crawling under your desk and hiding? ::grin:: Today was one of those days. Everything I produced today had to be adjusted and "tweaked" 86 times before it was "just right" and I felt like I was spinning my wheels most of the day. GAH!

Fortunately, we have a terrific new admin and I was able to give her some of the smaller projects that had been given to me because our old admin wasn't quite up to the task. It helps that our new admin is my very good friend and I know that I can say, "K, this is what I need and this is how it should look and then is when I need it," and she will get it done - just like that. How coolio!

I've decided to re-decorate Baby Girl's bedroom. She wants to be Cinderella when she grows up, so I'm going to do a princess bedroom. I know, gag me with the pink, purple and yellow, but she'll go absolutely nuts for it when she gets home and it will make me happy, knowing I'm doing something really special for her. It will make the time go by faster, while she is gone.

Well, I know this is a TERRIBLY short update, but I'll write more when I get home tonight. Later, gators!

Hard Days Night

::giggle:: I have NO idea what that means, by the way. I really like to tap my feet and hum along to the Beatles' song, but is there a meaning to the words "Hard Days Night?"

Anyway, I'm back. Just about to climb into bed - a relatively decent hour, if I say so myself.

Did I tell you I'm going to get a new car? FINALLY??? Well, for any of us who have been around FridayNightGirl for since last Fall, then we know that she was tragically out of work for an entire millennium (ok, it was four months) and had to give up her shiny silver car. (Not that she really liked that car, but it was still four wheels and a cd player.)

So, as a part of the rebuilding plan now that I have gainful employment again, I am finally going to acquire a new set of wheels. On Thursday, I will pick up my shiny silver car. ::giggle:: Yes, it is silver. It is a Saturn. You know, the car company that says their cars will "give up their lives" for their humans. How awesome is that??!!

I would SO like to shake the hand of the ad exec that came up with that promo. VERY cool. Completely caters to the estrogen-based consumers. ::giggle::

(don't ask - I'm sleepy)

Ok, I've written and now I sleep. Goodnight, John Boy.
