You know those days that seem to drag on for---------------e---------------v-----------er? Yep, that has been my day today. The day started well enough and, don't get me wrong, I've accomplished a lot today. It just hasn't clipped along at its usual pace.
My season catalog is coming along. Whew, it is going to be pretty when it is finished, but it may take an act of Congress to get the approval for the funds. And then, if I am unable to get the funding for it - EGADS! I will have spent all this time and effort in creating something I can't use. ::choke::
I just won't think about that right now. Like it? It's my Scarlett O'Hara impression.
I'll write more tonight - after work. Until then.....

Morning
You know that time, first thing in the morning, when the house is still and the only sounds are the ones that the house makes (and the occasional patter of kitty feet)? That is my favorite time of day. The day is new again and, I think, there waits an invitation to join Him in the stillness.
So this morning, instead of jumping out of bed, realizing it is 6:40 instead of 6:15, and beginning to race around - as usual, I sat in my bed and talked to my Creator. I told Him about waking up at 4am with a disconcerted feeling and tossing and turning all night until the cats finally got off of the bed because I was moving around so much. I surrendered any lingering feelings of agitation from yesterday and really just took some time, first thing in the morning, to say good morning and thank you for another day.
My quiet time is normally at night - kind of a way to finish up the day on a good note. It is kind of my way of shaking off whatever frustrations, irritations, roadblocks and just generalized nonsense I encounter during my day. That way, it doesn't follow me through the night and into the next morning. I didn't do that last night. I was too tired (I told myself).
Ah ha! Maybe God is trying to tell me that I need both times with Him. I need to start the day with a grateful song and a time to lift up friends and family in need but I also need to spend some time with him at night to get into the word and also time to surrender the failings of the day.
I love writing. It helps me get all of my meandering thoughts out on paper in some sort of logical order. And aren't you the lucky one that stumbles upon it and says, "huh?" ::grin::
Well, it is now 7:17 and Munchkin is still sleeping!! I had better finish up and put on my Mommy hat and get everybody moving.
Have a happy day!

What IS ancho-chili paint??

I have mentioned in previous posts about my job, that I am the Marketing Director for an Arts Center. Today, I sent another Press Release to the paper on a cooking demonstration we have scheduled for later this month.
What catches my attention every time I read it is the bizarre food items that I have NEVER heard of. chili paint? mango jalapeno aoli? What on earth?
Now, I do not pretend to know a lot about "gourmet" food but I have absolutely no frame of reference for these things.
It just reminds me how much there is still to learn about the world I inhabit.

What a Terrific Weekend
Little Brother and Wife came down this weekend. I just love it when they visit. They are such a cute couple.
We had our spring tea this weekend at church. Miss K and I hosted a table. Last year, I hosted a table and was the youngest person in the room. This year, there were LOTS of younger women in the room - it was great! Here is a picture of our table.

Last night, Little brother and wife, Mom, Dad, Gran and I all went to the show. The last show in our Season. What fun! They didn't stop the whole show and the music was great! A FULL HOUSE!! We didn't sell out, but we got pretty close. WHOO HOO! I hope the numbers come out on our side.
This morning, we got up and had Humpty Dumptys - always a treat. Then, we went to church. We normally attend the 9am service but went to the 10:30 today. Oh my, the music was spectacular. I think we'll be visiting that service for a while.
A TERRIFIC weekend.

S-L-EEPY
I'm sitting here, yawning and rubbing my eyes like a little kid and yet I log onto blogger to post a new update because it has been a couple of days. How silly is that??

Work was good today. The Boss and I had a meeting today that went very well. My boss and I make a good team. Every suggestion we made was "approved" and we have been given the "way to go" by several key members of our Board. hmph.

Ugh, I am so sleepy. I can't even keep my eyes open. Ok, boys and girls. I know this is a pathetic excuse for an update but I have had about four hours of sleep each night since the blasted time change and I feel a little bit like a zombie.

I put Munchkin to bed an hour before her set bedtime, so I think I'll borrow a page from my own mommy-edict and do the same.
Night, kids.

ps. are you sleepy too?

Lurkers
I've been reading a lot of blogs lately and it occurs to me that I should leave a little note when I visit. Just my little way of saying, "hi - I read your blog today - thanks for having me into your little corner of the www."
So, please feel free to do the same here. In fact, it would be neat to find out who all is peeking into my diary. ::grin:: (I sound really stressed out by the prospect, don't I?)
Have a wonderful night, world.

And Today is the First
Today is the first day that it really hit me that Munchkin is about to be gone for two months. I am shopping for plane tickets online this afternoon and it hit me - oh my goodness! Since the moment of her conception, she has not been away from me more than a week and now I have two months to rattle around in the house by myself. No bedtime stories, no dinnertime praying, no singing in the car...
She spent five days with her dad a few weeks ago and that was about three days too long. UGH.
But, I believe that God is sovereign and that Jeremiah 29:11 holds every bit as true for Munchkin as it does for me. Therefore, He is watching over her and will be right there with her, even though I can't be. She's going to have a great time - it will be just like going to Disneyworld.
So, instead of dwelling on how lonely my little house will be without her racket, I am going to make a list of all of the things that I intend to do with this summer... (yes, I know this is silly)
1. Audition for the community theatre's summer musical
2. Go to Dallas and see Les Miserables
3. Use the weekends to visit different churches and get ideas about singles ministry to bring back to FBC.
4. Take a clay class
5. Take a yoga class
6. Be the maid of honor in my dear friend's wedding
7. Keep the house CLEAN for longer than six minutes
8. Cut my laundry in half
9. Re-read the Old Testament (that was on my list anyway)
Ok, that's all I can think of for the moment. I wish her dad would call so we can get this flight thing settled; I'm tired of thinking about it.
