Mommy Time

Last night, Munchkin and I had a full evening of Mommy time. It was great. I forget how often it is that we have friends and family over or we are out and how nice it is to just stay home and play.

We made tacos and I let HER make her own. What a treat! She did great and, even though it made a huge mess on the table, she had a ball and so did I. She mimicked me when she said, outloud, "first the meat, then the lettuce (she calls it salad), then the cheese then the ranch. Yes, we put ranch dressing on our tacos. It is really tasty - you should try it.

After we cleaned up dinner, we put on a movie and watched it for a little while. After that, it was time for bed. We didn't clean her room (even though it needed it) and I waited to do laundry until after she'd gone to bed. And I am SO glad. That extra few hours of undivided attention was great.

In the middle of the night, she crawled up into bed with me. She must have heard the thunder from the storm and decided that she needed to be close to me. Normally, I would get up and take her back to her bed, but it seemed better to let her stay. So, there she was this morning.

Ah... Have I mentioned that I just adore her? ::grin::

Because I'm Weird

When did she learn to say stuff like that? And where? The three year old has discovered a whole new language and it's FUNNY!

Blue Skies and Dinosaurs

I knew that would get your attention - I'm in a funny mood today. I suppose it is because it is Monday.

Ah, Spring Break is over! You can tell because it's busy and bustling and the weather is pretty... ::grin:: Last week (Spring Break) was cold and rainy. This week, the kids are back in school and the sun is out and it looks and feels like spring again. (go figure)

I had a coffee over the weekend and it went really well. It is always fun doing things like that. Having your friends over for coffee and dessert and conversation. Oh, and did I mention that we shopped for jewelry? I cannot WAIT for my new stuff to come in. How I do adore shiny things.

I came into the office this morning and, over the weekend, hooligans had spray painted DINOSAURS on the columns at the front entry. How odd is that, I ask you? Dinosaurs? A stenciled dinosaur at that! How strange. Who can understand the mind of a hooligan?

Wicked is coming back to Texas! Of course, it is going to be Spring 2007, but tickets are already on sale! WHOO HOO!! Sign me up, baby!

We set the dates for Munchkin to stay with her dad over the summer. I have to say that I am not looking forward to six weeks without her nearly as much as I let on. Sure it will be nice not having to worry about getting a sitter every time I have an event or something for work and having built-in Mommy Nights Out for six weeks. But that also means no bedtime stories, prayers, songs and kisses, either. I'm just going to keep myself uber-busy so I won't think about it. (does this sound like Scarlett O'Hara to anybody else?) I'm going to audition for the Summer Musical at the community theatre, take a clay class and who knows what else I can come up with.

Well, I have taken a long enough "lunch" (even though I didn't eat) so I should get back to work. Toodles!

Spring Fever

What is it that happens to a person to make them all of the sudden notice the dandelions in their grass or the new fire ant beds along the side walk? What makes a person get out their camera and paper and start making a spring yard project list? Oh, you don't do that? Well, then, what happens that causes ME to do it? I think it is just the change in weather. The fact that the birds have returned and are singing in the trees. The fact that I take the time to notice the warm air on my face as I leisurely stroll from my car to the house, or house to car. Winter is over - at least for Texas.

The big old pecan trees in my yard are still not convinced that Spring has arrived and they are holding their leaves for the last cold snap which, historically, happens around March 16. Got love Texas. You hear people talk about how unpredictable the weather is, but that really is not true.

The only bed-work I am planning to do this year will be in the big bed in the back yard and then a smaller bed in the front of the house, in between two new shrubs I'm planning on having installed. Not that I've chosen the plantings or anything, but that's all a part of the planning process. You can't see it, but I'm rubbing my hands together in anticipation.

Actually, I'm rubbing my eyes and yawning like a little kid, so I think I'll end this one for the night and put my yard plans to rest as well. At least for today.

So much Sunday left and no time to Nap

Today is one of those days that makes you want to lay on the couch and watch movies all day. Kiddo is with her dad for five days. Yesterday the hand-off went really well. I rearranged half of my house (with a LOT of help from my friends) and I'm SO excited! The color that I HATED in the living room looks terrific as a bedroom and the colors in my bedroom of which I was so tired look FANTASTIC as a living room. Imagine that...

I have another event today, at work. I LOVE my job. I hope it's a successful show. It is the start of our family series. I hope we have LOTS and LOTS of kids. Then, I'm going with a friend to look for pillows (or covers) for my sofa. Then, we have church again tonight and, after that, some meeting for coordinators/directors. UGH. I wish I could skip it. Maybe we'll just go and say hello and then come home. I want to call in sick tomorrow. hmmm... That might not be a bad idea.

My ads are already running for the next show; the press releases aren't due until Tuesday and I don't have a cover to worry about..... Maybe I could be sick tomorrow. I am SO tired. I haven't slept well in two months. I know it's because of all the (good) stress at work but it is still starting to wear me out.

Not to mention that my house is still in a state of chaos. Let's think about that a little more.
